Here’s how Laritzy describes their shade stix…

Introducing our new cream Shade Stix that will give you that perfect, subtle sun-kissed glow. The formula is highly pigmented, buildable, and weightless to make it easy to accomplish that perfectly blended look that will stay all day.

What do I think of the shade stix!?

I absolutely ADORE the shade stix, it is such a perfect colour, yes even for me & my pale skin! HOORAY!!

At first I was terrified, I’d never used a stick contour before, I applied it to my face & instantly thought ‘sh*t that’s way too pigmented & far too dark!’. As I started to blend it in to my skin it just looked so seamless & effortless, the colour looks so natural like you have caught the sun & have a natural tan.. which if your like me (don’t tan at all) you could definitely do with this!

The formula is super creamy too but doesn’t feel oily on the skin at all, it just glides on so easily & doesn’t dry down super fast so you have time to blend it out! As a new mum I need products that make my makeup application super quick, that last all day. This has definitely done this!

As you can see from the above picture the product is a decent size & you do get 9 grams of product which is fab, you literally use the tiniest amount each time so this is going to last me a good while!

The only down side is that as far as I’m aware there’s only one shade, aloha, as you can see it works for my pale skin & would definitely work for a lot of people but unfortunately would probably not be dark enough for deep skin tones! Hopefully they’re working on more shades as this seems like it’s a very new release, it is currently out of stock!

How I applied the shade stix

Since its summer I’ve been loving a light base so I just used my bareminerals complexion rescue & collection concealer! I then went in with the shade stix in the areas I wanted to contour! Literally just stripe it on to the face, I then went in with my Real Techinques Contour Brush, this brush is perfect for the job as it is nice & fluffy but precise so you keep the contour in the areas you want it!

BLEND BLEND BLEND!! Always key in makeup, make sure all edges are soft; I go in with my Real Techinques Sponge to soften the lines even more, make sure it is fully blended & pressed in to the skin!

❤COMMENT BELOW if you’d like to see a full in depth post on how to contour for your face shape!❤

How gorgeous & sunkissed does this look, I used the back camera to capture the full effect as the front camera (used for the above image) makes things seem lighter!

To finish off my face I went over the entire face with my powder foundation, this adds slightly more coverage & makes the contour look super seamless. You could just go in with a transparent powder if you use a higher coverage foundation underneath & just mattify/set areas that need it most!🙂

Is it worth the money!?

This retails for $24 which is about £18, to me this product really is worth that price! I have paid far more for products that haven’t preformed half as good as this!! It does what it says on the tin & stays all day! 😍 Totally recommend!

Laritzy Shade Stix also used for this look…

A big round of applause to Laritzy, you have made the perfect contour stick!! Unfortunately it is actually sold out at the minute😕 but I’ll include the link below in case it becomes available!🙂

Monday MOTD: How I contour & highlight!❤

Hi Beauties 🌞

I’ve been writing my blog for a little over a year and I’m yet to do a my contour and highlighting routine. So today I’ve got that for you.. I can’t believe I haven’t done one until now!!

Anyway, let’s get right into it…

image

As always I start with a clean, well moisturised base. I then went in with my Revlon Colorstay Foundation (shade buff) as I wanted a more full coverage. I blended this in using my Real Technique Miracle Complexion Sponge.
To highlight my under eye area I used my L’Oréal Lumi Magique Highlighting Concealer (review to come!!).

image

If you are new to contour & aren’t really sure where it goes, suck in your cheeks to make a ‘fish’ face (as you can see marked by my brush here!!).

image

I applied Benefit Hoola with my Real Techniques Cheek Brush, make sure you blend it well so it isn’t just a harsh line. I also apply it to the temples and forehead to warm up the rest of my face!

image

I don’t have a ‘fat’ face as such, I just like to contour my jaw line to add extra definition and warmth!

image

My favourite part to my face makeup is definitely highlight, it adds so much definition and life into the face.
Once again, when you suck in your cheeks your cheek bone should stick out, this is where the highlight is placed!

image

I absolutely adore this highlighter, can you not see the glow? I used Makeup Academy’s Highlight in English Rose! My favourite way to apply this is with my Real Techniques Blush Brush. It distributes the perfect amount to the cheek! 🙂

image

Here’s what my contour and highlight looks like finished. PLUS this purple smokey eye is coming up for next weeks MOTD :)❤

Do you contour & highlight? What are your favorite products?

Lots of Love Natasha

Everyday Purple Smokey Eye ♥

Hi Beauties ☼

Recently I’ve been loving purple liner, yes, I’m being more adventurous with colour, hooray! 🙂 I have found having a subtle pop of purple on the eye really brings out my green eyes, which I LOVEEEE!!

How to get the look…

Face

For the face I used my beloved Revlon Colourstay Foundation in Buff, I applied this using my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. This is my favourite way to apply this foundation as it looks most natural & pretty flawless! To cover my under eye circles & any blemishes I used the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair (love this bad boy!!) To set those in place I used my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent. Even though my skin is drier these days I still set my base so it stays all day! To add dimension back into the face I lightly contoured my face using my Benefit Hoola bronzer.

Eyes

To achieve a subtle purple smokey eye I started off by lining my upper & lower lashline with the Gosh Velvet Touch Eyeliner in Funky Violet. This is such a beautiful colour & compliments green eyes really well! To add a bit of smokiness to the eye I pushed the colour ‘Regal’ from my Sleek Au Naturel Palette into the upper lashline. I then used a fluffy blending brush to smoke this out, theres no technique to this, just apply a line of the shadow on your upper lashes & smoke it out towards the crease of your eye. Most of the colour should be at the base!! To finish off the eyes I added lashings of mascara.wpid-20150508_125816.jpgwpid-20150511_212241.jpgBrows

As usual I just brushed through my brows with the fabulous Benefit Gimme Brow. I love how amazing this looks in my brows, it’s so natural & defining! 🙂

Lips

For the lips I used a new product, Bourjois Rouge Edition in the shade 18 Violine Strass. I absolutely love this colour, its a pretty berry shade with a shimmer through it (not very noticable on the lips!). I can see this being my new favourite!! 😀

I hope you all like this subtle purple smokey eye as much as I do.

Real Techniques Core Collection

The Real Techniques brushes, designed by Samantha Chapman; a professional makeup artist known as one half of the Pixiwoo sisters on YouTube, first created the Real Techniques brush line to bring a professional finish to your makeup at home and from the high street. The Real Techniques ‘Core Collection’ is one of many collections Sam has designed specifically in mind to give an easy flawless finish to any makeup look, anywhere, anytime.

About the brushes

  • The Real Techniques brushes are made with synthetic bristles, making them extra soft, compared to other makeup brushes I’ve used, and easier to create a flawless look. With the bristles being synthetic it also means they’re cruelty free.
  • Each collection or individual brush is colour-coded, orange brushes are for a flawless base, purple for enhanced eyes and pink for the perfect finish. As well as each brush being colour-coded they are also cut to the perfect shape of your hand making them easy to grip, allowing precise application and therefore a perfect finish to your makeup.
So, we know a little bit more about these fabulous brushes, but if you are inexperienced with using makeup brushes you may be wondering what products are suitable to use with these brushes. The answer to that question is any, these brushes are suitable for any product; powders, creams, liquids, mineral makeup, highlighter, shimmer, etc. the list is endless. Yes, the brushes may be labelled but it doesn’t mean you can’t experiment and use them for a different purpose, for example; I own the blush brush but I use it to contour, the purpose of these brushes are so flexible you can use them to what suits you best and I think that is one of the amazing things about Real Techniques.
Real Techniques
Pictured above is the Real Techniques Core Collection; (from left to right) foundation brush, contour brush, detailer brush and the buffing brush.
The Core Collection retails at £21.99 here in the UK and were the first set of Real Techniques brushes I purchased about a year or so ago, to me this was the best choice as you have your face essentials in one kit. The Core Collection includes the 4 full-size brushes and the travel case;
  • pointed foundation brush: ideal for liquid foundation, the brush itself is quite small but allows for a precise application and is easy to use to build the foundation to your desired coverage.
  • contour brush: ideal for highlighter or bronzing powder to create a contour and soft finish to your makeup look.
  • detailer brush: a small precise brush which can be used for multi-purpose, e.g. conceal problem areas or use with lipstick to create precise, long-lasting definition and shape to your lips.
  • buffing brush: can also be used for liquid foundation, powders or mineral makeup, this brush creates a full coverage application.
  • the brush case is ideal for travelling or transporting your makeup brushes as it protects them and keeps them safe as well as doubling up as a stand (folds back on itself creating a stand).

My thoughts on the Core Collection

In my opinion the Real Techniques Core Collection is a very useful collection to have, especially if you are a massive fan of all things make up like myself. Not only are the brushes well designed, they’re also very well made. I have had my Real Techniques Core Collection brushes for over a year now, they have NEVER shed a single hair, they wash perfectly and are like brand new once washed, the best thing about them is that they are very affordable and worth ever penny as they are such good value for money.

It is safe to say that Samantha Chapman is a genius, she has brought the high street amazing products, and for people like me who are unable to afford high-end brands she has definitely delivered a high-end experience to our doorstep.

Overall I rate the Real Techniques Core Collection 5/5 as they live up to the hype, they deliver flawless results and are still going strong after more than a year of constant use. This also applies to the other Real Techniques brushes and collections, they are all designed and made very well. In my opinion; they are faultless.
