Foundation First impression!♡

Hi lovelies ☺

Eeek, I’m so excited to share this first impressions review with you!! It is a strange but interesting one, something I got on a whim after seeing a YouTuber review it☺

The product I’m talking about is the ’16 Brand Foundation’. Your probably thinking, ugh never heard of it!! 😂 You probably won’t have, I hadn’t until I saw this review.. but as soon as I saw it in action I was hooked & just had to try it for myself ☺😍

How cute is the packaging though? I mean if your a sucker for pretty things; like me, you’ll be sure to love this!!😃

Although it is quite cute the jam jar appearance is slightly messy as it had a clear seal on the inside which is covered in foundation, once you get passed this though you can use the super cute spatula to spoon a small amount into the lid!!☺ when I mean small, I mean small….

Here’s how it looks when it has been applied using my Real Techniques Sponge..

And here’s how it looks using my Real Techinques buffing brush…

Out of both methods I’ve got to say it applied a lot better using the sponge due to the thick consistency & VERY high coverage☺ As you can tell by the pictures the results with the sponge are far better than that of the brush, which for me was a surprise!😮

This stuff is amazing.. although it was very high in coverage it was very lightweight feeling on the skin & did not break me out! 😃 HOORAAAAAAY!!!

Not only was this gorgeous alone, my collection concealer blended like a dream on top of it!😍 plus, I did not feel the need to set it as it set down on its own after a short while 🙂(my skin has been dry lately, if yours is oily you may want to consider powder!)

Here’s how the foundation looks with all my makeup on…

20180129_20285713445715.jpg

I adore how well it covers my blemishes & redness while still looking and feeling light on the skin☺

It even wore well… after 6 hours it looked basically the same as when it was applied!👏

The only down sides to this foundation is that there aren’t many shade choices, plus I bought mine on Amazon & it’s now not listed on there so I’m not sure where else it is stocked!!😮

Overall, I really enjoy this product & will probably reach for it again when I want a more full coverage look🙂

What do you guys think? Have you heard much about this brand!?🙂

Makeup of the day

Summer skin & hair…

Hi beauties 🌞

Yesterday I fancied doing a simple makeup look & hairstyle, so that’s just what I did! Here is how I achieved it…

image

Hair
For my hair I just brushed it through & plaited my fringe. My hair was slightly oily as it was second (or maybe third) day hair, but I find this style looks better a bit more ‘grungy’ 🙂 if you want a bit more oomf and body to your hair just spritz a bit of dry shampoo into the roots!!!

Face
For my face I obviously started off with my Simple Moisturiser, after letting that sink into the skin I applied my Benefit Porefessional to my t-zone. As I wanted a light coverage I chose to use my Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation & built up the coverage in areas in need. I absolutely love this foundation for summer it’s so glowy & radiant looking 🙂

To add dimension to my face I applied my Benefit Hoola Bronzer into the hollows of my cheeks, temples & jaw line! This also gives the look a summery sunkissed look :). Just to make sure I was a glowing goddess this day I used my MUA Mosaic blush, this is so beautiful for the pittance it cost!!!

Eyes
For my eyes I did a simple winged liner using my Makeup Revolution double ended liner (review coming shortly!). I then finished off the eyes by applying my mascara of the moment Kiko Active+ Volumising Mascara!!

Brows
As always I used my Benefit Gimme Brow, just look at the results! No words needed. 🙂

Lips
For lips I just applied a tinted lip balm, B. Cosmetics Lip Balm in the shade Caramel 👍

What do you guys think of glowy/dewy skin? Yay or nay?

Review: Rimmel 25 hour Lasting Finish Nude Foundation!♥

Hi beauties. ☼

After receiving a sample of the Rimmel 25 hour Lasting Finish Nude Foundation in this months cosmopolitan, I thought it’d be a great opportunity to review it for you all & let you know my first impressions 🙂

I think this is a modified version of the Rimmel 25 hour Lasting Finish Foundation, which I did use during my school years. I seem to remember that I enjoyed it, but anyway lets see what I thought of this foundation…

Here is the sample I got:

wpid-20140903_180154.jpg

What Rimmel claims:

Medium coverage foundation that feels hydrating and moisturizing

– Lightweight formula blends instantly into the skin creating a nude, poreless effect
– Sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof for up to 25 hours

– SPF 20

Do I agree with these claims?

I agree that this foundation is a medium coverage that is hydrating & moisturising. When I applied this foundation it didn’t cling to any dry patches, spots or sink into any pores. It was smooth & felt hydrating on the skin, like you aren’t wearing any foundation!

Therefore, I agree that this is a lightweight formula which blends instantly. I used my Real Techniques Buffing Brush (click here for a review!), with this it blended seamlessly & effortlessly.

Here is what the foundation looked like when it was first applied…

wpid-20140903_180115.jpg

It looks really nice, it’s a pretty good colour match (100 Ivory), although if I did repurchase I would get a shade lighter! Overall, I like how it looked on my skin!

Here is how the foundation looked when it was powdered & I’d added contour/blush…

wpid-20140903_180615.jpg

However, despite the amazing application & feel I wasn’t pleased with the lasting power, even though I did set the foundation with powder, contoured & added blush (which did look great!) For me the foundation seemed to fade off within a few hours. It started to get patchy on my forehead & around my nose, usually the places I’m most oily. Despite the fact these are my most oily places, other foundations I’ve used stay a lot better than this did. It did disappoint me as I used to enjoy it in school, although I do remember having problems with the staying power then.

Here is how the foundation looked at the end of the day…

wpid-20140903_232816.jpg

As you can see my skin looks pretty shiny, redness is showing through on my forehead & around my nose. However, my contour/blush seems to have stayed pretty well. FYI I hadn’t powdered throughout the day.

Shade range

This foundation has a decent shade range. There are 8 shades, ranging from light porcelain to natural beige! It does cater for very pale people, but not so much for people with deeper skin tones, which is sad! Maybe one day Rimmel will bring out darker shades 🙂

8shades

This foundation retails for £7.99 here in the UK. I think this is a good foundation if you’re only going to be wearing it for a short amount of time. However, if you’re in the market for a long lasting foundation, that’ll stay all day, then this is probably not the one for you! My skin is oily, so I couldn’t say how it’d last on dry skin, so if you have dry skin maybe it’ll work better for you as it did stay well on the less oily places of my face 🙂

Have you tried this foundation? If so, let me know what you thought of it below! 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this review, if you’ve got any my questions please leave a comment below!

Thanks for reading beauties, have a fabulous day xo

Project 10 Pan

5. L’Oreal True Match Foundation: Project 10 Pan!♥

Hi beauties. ☼

Finally, it’s time for the very anticipated review on the L’Oreal True Match Foundation. I have been using this foundation for a year or so now, even though this is probably only my second bottle (yes, it really does last a long time!!). So it’s safe to say I’ll be able to give you an honest & well-tested opinion of this foundation. I hope you find this review interesting or at least helpful! Lets begin…

What L’Oreal claim:

The silky texture of True Match blends seamlessly with the skin. It automatically adjusts to the texture of the skin to create a flawless finish. Oil-free and non-comedogenic.

wpid-20140513_173502.jpg

Do I agree with L’Oreal’s claim? Yes, I definitely would agree. This foundation does have a silky texture as it is liquidy in consistency when pumped onto the back of the hand, I think this helps with the brilliant blendability as it does blend seamlessly & effortlessly into the skin!I don’t know whether it ‘adjusts’ to the skin, but the colour I use (N1) is a perfect match for me, so just make sure you choose the shade best for you! I agree that the foundation is oil-free & non-comedogenic (doesn’t cause blocked pores) as it lasts all day, with no need to touch up, even on my oily skin, it never feels cakey & doesn’t break me out 🙂

L’Oreal have created an amazing range of ’20 true to skin’ shades, these include warm, cool & neutral tones. How amazing are L’Oreal? For a high-street/drugstore brand it is a pleasant surprise, finally an affordable brand caters for ALL skin colours & tones 🙂

wpid-20140513_173510.jpg

Application

To apply this foundation I use my Real Techniques Buffing Brush (click here for review) or my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, iI find both of these to apply the foundation like a dream. I use a stippling motion (with the brush or sponge) to blend in the foundation as this gives the most flawless finish. If I’m using the buffing brush I will then use small circular motions to buff out the edges of my foundation around my hairline, under the chin & down the neck. This foundation, being a very lightweight consistency, is applied effortlessly & to be honest, you could probably apply it without a mirror & still look flawless!!

What I think of L’Oreal True Match

This product retails at £9.99, it is definitely a steal at this price. L’Oreal True Match is a FAB foundation, especially considering it’s from the high-street. It lasts amazingly on the skin, I don’t feel the need to powder throughout the day (even with oily skin), it doesn’t cake up; even if you build it up (it can be as sheer or as opaque as you want it to be), & it is super easy to work with!

This would be a great foundation for anyone, whether you are starting out with makeup or you’re more experienced with makeup, it really is that good!

To me, it is pretty fragrance free, I cannot detect a strong scent & I hate scented face makeup. Its an all round winner!!

Overall, I would definitely rate this product 5/5. It has everything I look for in a foundation; perfect shade, lasts all day & is natural looking. It is pretty much a universal foundation, whats not to love about that? 🙂

Have you tried this foundation? If yes, let me know what you think of it below, I always love to hear what my beauties think ❤

Real Techniques Core Collection

The Real Techniques brushes, designed by Samantha Chapman; a professional makeup artist known as one half of the Pixiwoo sisters on YouTube, first created the Real Techniques brush line to bring a professional finish to your makeup at home and from the high street. The Real Techniques ‘Core Collection’ is one of many collections Sam has designed specifically in mind to give an easy flawless finish to any makeup look, anywhere, anytime.

About the brushes

  • The Real Techniques brushes are made with synthetic bristles, making them extra soft, compared to other makeup brushes I’ve used, and easier to create a flawless look. With the bristles being synthetic it also means they’re cruelty free.
  • Each collection or individual brush is colour-coded, orange brushes are for a flawless base, purple for enhanced eyes and pink for the perfect finish. As well as each brush being colour-coded they are also cut to the perfect shape of your hand making them easy to grip, allowing precise application and therefore a perfect finish to your makeup.
So, we know a little bit more about these fabulous brushes, but if you are inexperienced with using makeup brushes you may be wondering what products are suitable to use with these brushes. The answer to that question is any, these brushes are suitable for any product; powders, creams, liquids, mineral makeup, highlighter, shimmer, etc. the list is endless. Yes, the brushes may be labelled but it doesn’t mean you can’t experiment and use them for a different purpose, for example; I own the blush brush but I use it to contour, the purpose of these brushes are so flexible you can use them to what suits you best and I think that is one of the amazing things about Real Techniques.
Real Techniques
Pictured above is the Real Techniques Core Collection; (from left to right) foundation brush, contour brush, detailer brush and the buffing brush.
The Core Collection retails at £21.99 here in the UK and were the first set of Real Techniques brushes I purchased about a year or so ago, to me this was the best choice as you have your face essentials in one kit. The Core Collection includes the 4 full-size brushes and the travel case;
  • pointed foundation brush: ideal for liquid foundation, the brush itself is quite small but allows for a precise application and is easy to use to build the foundation to your desired coverage.
  • contour brush: ideal for highlighter or bronzing powder to create a contour and soft finish to your makeup look.
  • detailer brush: a small precise brush which can be used for multi-purpose, e.g. conceal problem areas or use with lipstick to create precise, long-lasting definition and shape to your lips.
  • buffing brush: can also be used for liquid foundation, powders or mineral makeup, this brush creates a full coverage application.
  • the brush case is ideal for travelling or transporting your makeup brushes as it protects them and keeps them safe as well as doubling up as a stand (folds back on itself creating a stand).

My thoughts on the Core Collection

In my opinion the Real Techniques Core Collection is a very useful collection to have, especially if you are a massive fan of all things make up like myself. Not only are the brushes well designed, they’re also very well made. I have had my Real Techniques Core Collection brushes for over a year now, they have NEVER shed a single hair, they wash perfectly and are like brand new once washed, the best thing about them is that they are very affordable and worth ever penny as they are such good value for money.

It is safe to say that Samantha Chapman is a genius, she has brought the high street amazing products, and for people like me who are unable to afford high-end brands she has definitely delivered a high-end experience to our doorstep.

Overall I rate the Real Techniques Core Collection 5/5 as they live up to the hype, they deliver flawless results and are still going strong after more than a year of constant use. This also applies to the other Real Techniques brushes and collections, they are all designed and made very well. In my opinion; they are faultless.
