Hi beauties. ☼
After receiving a sample of the Rimmel 25 hour Lasting Finish Nude Foundation in this months cosmopolitan, I thought it’d be a great opportunity to review it for you all & let you know my first impressions 🙂
I think this is a modified version of the Rimmel 25 hour Lasting Finish Foundation, which I did use during my school years. I seem to remember that I enjoyed it, but anyway lets see what I thought of this foundation…
Here is the sample I got:
What Rimmel claims:
Medium coverage foundation that feels hydrating and moisturizing
– Lightweight formula blends instantly into the skin creating a nude, poreless effect
– Sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof for up to 25 hours
– SPF 20
Do I agree with these claims?
I agree that this foundation is a medium coverage that is hydrating & moisturising. When I applied this foundation it didn’t cling to any dry patches, spots or sink into any pores. It was smooth & felt hydrating on the skin, like you aren’t wearing any foundation!
Therefore, I agree that this is a lightweight formula which blends instantly. I used my Real Techniques Buffing Brush (click here for a review!), with this it blended seamlessly & effortlessly.
Here is what the foundation looked like when it was first applied…
It looks really nice, it’s a pretty good colour match (100 Ivory), although if I did repurchase I would get a shade lighter! Overall, I like how it looked on my skin!
Here is how the foundation looked when it was powdered & I’d added contour/blush…
However, despite the amazing application & feel I wasn’t pleased with the lasting power, even though I did set the foundation with powder, contoured & added blush (which did look great!) For me the foundation seemed to fade off within a few hours. It started to get patchy on my forehead & around my nose, usually the places I’m most oily. Despite the fact these are my most oily places, other foundations I’ve used stay a lot better than this did. It did disappoint me as I used to enjoy it in school, although I do remember having problems with the staying power then.
Here is how the foundation looked at the end of the day…
As you can see my skin looks pretty shiny, redness is showing through on my forehead & around my nose. However, my contour/blush seems to have stayed pretty well. FYI I hadn’t powdered throughout the day.
This foundation has a decent shade range. There are 8 shades, ranging from light porcelain to natural beige! It does cater for very pale people, but not so much for people with deeper skin tones, which is sad! Maybe one day Rimmel will bring out darker shades 🙂
This foundation retails for £7.99 here in the UK. I think this is a good foundation if you’re only going to be wearing it for a short amount of time. However, if you’re in the market for a long lasting foundation, that’ll stay all day, then this is probably not the one for you! My skin is oily, so I couldn’t say how it’d last on dry skin, so if you have dry skin maybe it’ll work better for you as it did stay well on the less oily places of my face 🙂
Have you tried this foundation? If so, let me know what you thought of it below! 🙂
