Becoming a mum; my journey, breastfeeding

My breastfeeding journey: 6 month update!❤

Hi lovelies,

Oh wow. Christmas is 4 days away🎄 CRAZY!!! Where has this year gone?🙊

I have been super busy & legit unable to sit down & write a post. Sad times. I was really getting back in to blogging. Anyway, since I’m able to sit down & write a post I thought I’d give you all our 6 month breastfeeding update! 🙂 My little man reached 6 months old 06.12.18 – where did those 6 months even go?😱

Not a lot has changed really. I’m still breastfeeding but we have introduced solids. We started introducing some solids just over 5 months! To be honest I did a small amount of research but all babies are different so just do what you feel is best, I just looked for advice on suitable foods for his age. Not only did we start solids but Rylie also got his first TWO TEETH. So amazing. We mainly started with veg, pureed then as he got the taste made them in to sticks so he could feed himself – this is baby led weaning! 🙂

Rylie is now 28 weeks. I do like to keep some sort of a routine with his food. For example, he usually had porridge or more recently scrambled egg. He then has whatever veg or suitable food we are having at dinner. I tend not to give him a lot of food later in the afternoon/evening as I don’t want to upset his stomach & want it all to be digested before bed. Even though Rylie has food during the day he has plenty of milk after any food & between food!

On an evening we have started to give him a bottle, to make sure he is having plenty before bed as he hasn’t been sleeping well. He still wakes every couple of hours in the night.. usually no longer than 3/4 hours! This hasn’t made much of a difference as he still wants milk frequently in the night.

If anyone has any tips on weaning I’d love to hear them!

Becoming a mum; my journey

My labour story…

Hi everyone😊

So it’s been a little while since I last uploaded! A lot has happened, MY LITTLE MAN IS NOW HERE!!😍

I really wanted to share my labour story with you all & make this a start to me uploading more (going to try upload at least once a week but ideally more!!) So definitely follow me for baby updates, all things makeup & beauty & my journey as a new mum!❤

My handsome little Prince, Rylie, was born on Wednesday 6th June at 23:23 via c section! My c section was not planned but was the best option in the end… read on to hear the full story🙂

Monday

My labour started days before the big event & started quite slowly. The Monday before he was born I went to see the midwife for a stretch & sweep (if you don’t know what this is it’s basically something that is meant to help bring the labour on!). We went in for the stretch & sweep, by this time he was already 6 days over the due date, the midwife did all the checks he definitely sounded happy in there as he always has (she joked he was too comfy in there! Which he probably was!😉) anyway she was unable to do the sweep as my cervix were out of reach, despite this she said it still may help! I’m not sure whether it did as that morning I had already started with slight period pain like cramps, which I told her about & was hopeful that something was happening! So after leaving the midwife we went on with our normal day, went to see family & I noticed the cramps did not go & were getting slightly worse over the course of the evening!

Tuesday

Early hours of Tuesday morning the pains got worse, now I was realising I was getting contractions & this was the beginning of us meeting our little man. As the pains where getting closer together & were about every 5 mins & getting stronger we rang the hospital & was told we could come in but if nothing was happening we’d be sent home (we live about 45 mins away from the hospital I was going to give birth!). So we went in as the pains were getting progressively worse & paracetamol was no longer helping as much… breathing techniques really are your best friend during labour, it truly is the only thing that really helps (other than super strong drugs of course, but we don’t have those at home!).

When we arrived at the hospital we were left waiting for a while.. after at least half an hour of waiting to be seen a midwife came & examined us… annoyingly nothing was happening! I wasn’t dilated at all, so we were sent home! This midwife was the only midwife I had a problem with she was so rude & belittling so I was glad to be going back home!!

All Tuesday the pains got even worse & I was just trying to keep the pain down using paracetamol & breathing techniques. At this point I’d not slept all night & was feeling so drained already due to the pain.

Wednesday

Wednesday morning came, around 5/6 in the morning & I just couldn’t bare the pain anymore.. I woke my other half up & insisted we needed to go to the hospital, I couldn’t cope with the pain anymore & needed more pain relief, paracetamol just wasn’t touching the pain anymore!! We already had everything in the car, even so it took me a while to bring myself to move cos the pain was so bad… the car journey wasn’t as bad as I was expecting I just concentrated on my breathing which like I said earlier.. breathing techniques are your best friend in labour.. they help so much, it’s amazing, the pain is so strange it’s hard to describe unless you’ve experienced it before!

Once we got to the hospital & made our way to the labour ward we were shown to a room straight away & was introduced to the loveliest midwife… every midwife we met from here was so amazing & I couldn’t wish to be treat any better!!

Within about an hour of being on the labour ward a doctor broke my waters for me – they already suspected they’d been leaking during the last couple of days as I was also losing some of my plug while being at home… it didn’t shed at once it just came out as a pinky discharge (sorry tmi!).

All of a sudden we had loads of doctors in the room.. my midwife told us not to worry; but naturally you do! Since we have had some troubles in the past they said they wanted to keep an eye on us… once my waters had been broken I was given gas & air to help with the pain, it helped slightly but like I’ve said, it’s the breathing that helps!🙂

To cut a long story short the labour was progressing but very slowly! At one point little mans heart rate dropped so they had to do tests, which at the best of times would be uncomfortable!🙈 Thankfully his heart rate picked back up & the tests came back normal. The doctors where no longer worried as they nearly rushed us in for emergency c section… they gave us longer to see if the labour would progress more itself, at this point I’d not slept for nearly 2 whole days so I was knackered, I opted for the epidural to try get some rest in the hope I’d be able to push him out.

Once the epidural was in the labour just wasn’t going anywhere, we got to 7cm dilated & the doctors & midwife could see I was so tired & ready for him to be here. They urged I had a c section which we all decided would be best. I had been so against a c section & I don’t know why, I think it was lack of knowledge.. the doctors explained the procedure & everyone involved where amazing, I felt so much more relaxed!

Me & my partner were taken in to theatre & my sister was taken to the recovery room to wait (my other half was keeping her updated via texts!). No longer than half an hour of going in to theatre our little Prince was born at 23:23 😍 everyone working on me were so so shocked at how big he was.. they were all saying “How did you hide him in there?” Rylie was born 9Ibs 8oz which is a very good size, he’s also very long! If you know me you know I’m not the biggest of people, I am however pretty tall (about 5 foot 10!). We were instantly in love, he cried almost straight away which was a relief, they cleaned him up & my other half was able to cuddle him while I was being sewn back up! It wasn’t over though.. I was in theatre a good couple of hours as they noticed a bleed which they got a consultant in to stitch up! Once that was sorted they stitched me back up! The sensation of him being pulled out was so weird, you don’t feel a thing just the pressure of the pushing & pulling on your belly!

It really is amazing what they all do😍 there were so many people working around me together to make everything go smoothly & keep me comfortable. Of course you feel crappy due to all the drugs but all of it was worth it! We have our little Prince here safe & sound & at the end of the day that’s all that mattered to us!🙂❤

If anyone would like me to go in more detail about c sections & the aftercare/recovery then let me know I’d love to share as much as I can with you all🙂

I would love to hear your stories & experience! 🙂 every birth is so different, it’s amazes me how us women can be put through so much & come out even stronger at the end!❤

I want to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Hull women’s & children hospital for looking after us during & after labour! Couldn’t fault any of them!❤

TAG: My Makeup Story!♥

Hi beauties. ☼

I was tagged by the beautiful beckinablog to do this Makeup Story Tag 🙂 I’ve seen this going around the blogosphere, so I was very excited to be tagged!! Don’t forget to read Beckys post, there will be a link at the end ♥

image

1- How old were you when you started makeup?
I’ve loved makeup for as long as I can remember. I used to have a huge box full of it, but I distinctly remember loving one certain lipstick. A light frosty pink shade, yes it did come from a magazine but I adored it!

2- How did you get into makeup?
From magazine freebies & just being bought the kiddy sets for birthdays/Christmas’. I blame the family for my obsession today 😉

3- What are some of your favourite brands?
For highstreet brands I love Revlon, Maybelline & Sleek. For highend I love Benefit & BareMinerals (post on BareMinerals coming soon!!)

4- What does makeup mean to you?
I used to be one of these people that hated to go out without wearing it. However, now I use it to enhance beauty & make myself feel more confident. After all, I wear it for myself & nobody else!

5- If you could only wear four products on your face, what would they be?
Powder foundation, Bronzer, Mascara & a bright lipstick!

6- What is your favourite thing about makeup?
You can be creative. So many people have obscure perceptions of people that wear makeup, but why? Makeup is creativity & freedom to express yourself!

7- What do you think about drugstores VS high end?
There are many drugstore/highstreet brands that can match the quality of highend. It’s only recent I’ve ventured out to try highend products purely to see if they’re any better!

8- What is one piece of advice you could give to a beginner?
Always match your foundation correctly, there is nothing more annoying than orange/unmatched foundation.

9- What is one makeup trend you never understood?
Foundation lips, I mean who even invented that? It’s ghastly.
Super spider lashes, when people used to have clumped up mascara, which made you look like you only had a couple of thick pointy lashes!!

10- What do you think of the beauty community on YouTube?
It has transformed makeup. It’s so accessible that anyone can learn how to do makeup. To me, it’s a beautiful thing ♥ I’ve spent many many hours watching beauty vids!

That’s your lot! I tag:

Sleek Oh So Special Palette & Swatches!♥

Hi beauties. ☼ After purchasing my first Sleek Makeup eyeshadow palette I decided to create a swatches post so you can see what shades this palette includes. I also wanted to share with you my love of Sleek & I highly recommend you try the brand if you haven’t (especially their eyeshadows). However, there is one product I cannot get along with (more about this in an upcoming post!!) Anyway, here we go…

wpid-20141002_173632.jpg

Firstly, here’s the packaging for the palette, I love the idea of the loose eyeshadow design on the front, it looks fab! There are also tips on how to apply the eyeshadow on the back of the box. I think this is great, especially if you’re a beginner with makeup 🙂

The packaging for the actual palette is very ‘Sleek’, as the name would suggest. It is a soft plastic, which tends to cling to other makeup & get dirty, but hey-ho, it looks pretty!

wpid-20141002_173600.jpg

Here are the colours in the palette. As you can see there is quite a wide range of colours, which I love, it means I can get a shed load of looks just from this palette 🙂

In the first half of the palette we have pinky purple shades & the other half has more wearable browns & taupes to make the look more wearable or deepen it up for an evening look!

In this palette there are 5 shimmery shades & 7 matte shades. This is great as the darker crease shades are matte, I prefer this as matte shadows are better at giving definition to the eye. Also, the white colour is matte, I love using this as a subtle highlight!

If you’d like to see a look I created with this palette, then go to my previous sleek post here.

Here are the swatches of the top line of eyeshadows…

Have you tried any Sleek Makeup Palettes? If so, which one? 🙂

Thank you for reading beauties, have a fabulous day! ☼

Lots of Love Natasha ❤

Pamper night…♥

Hi beauties.

So the other night I decided to have a but of a pamper night before meeting friends. So I thought I’d share it with you all 🙂

image

First a shower was definitely needed after a long, sweaty (ewww!!), day at work!

image

For my body I used my Original Source Lemon shower gel, love these shower gels, they smell amazing 🙂

For my hair I decided to give it a good condition. To start with I used Avon Naturals Colour Moisture shampoo, I then deep moisturised my hair with Aussies 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Deep Conditioner! I absolutely love this, it leaves the hair so silky soft & smells lovely!!

image

After shower selfie was definitely called for!! ☆

I always wrap my hair like this as I have such thick hair this helps to dry it a bit before I let it down!

image

After showering I like to pluck my eyebrows. Today they were particularly bad as I don’t like over plucking them & tend to leave it til they’re really in need.

To pluck my eyebrows I just brush them through with a spooly & use some generic tweezers to tweeze out the hairs that are out of place. This is usually the arch, under the tail of the brow & in between the brows!

image

Here’s the finished result of my freshly plucked brows. They aren’t perfect, but that’s what makeup’s for 😀

image

I then did my makeup to go meet my friends 🙂 I went for natural looking skin & eyes with a pop of pink on the lips! Loving this right now, what do you think?

What do you like to do for a pamper night?

Thanks for reading beauties, have a fabulous day xo

Lots of Love Natasha ❤
