Any dark polish. I don’t have a particular favourite!

Jumping into leaves, of course!!

  • Skinny jeans or leggings?

Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream Review ❤

Hi beauties 🌞

Recently I’ve been getting back into bright bold lips. Here in the UK the weather has, slowly,  been brightening up & so my love for a bright lip begins all over again.

As you’ll know I love a red lip, especially a matte one & I’ve found the perfect lip product. The Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream in Rioja Red! 🙂

It retails for £4.99 & its worth every penny. It’s so pigmented you only need to apply this once to get full intensity of the colour in the tube!! It has a doe foot applicator, which actually makes it easy to apply, as it is a highly pigmented product there’s not much room for error.

As you apply this product it seems quite glossy, however, once applied, wait a few minutes & it dries down to a matte lip cream.

Once this lip cream has set it is bulletproof, literally!! I tried to rub it off my lips, no smudges. Nothing!! It also stains the lips so as you wear it you can’t really tell when it’s wearing off! To be honest, when I’ve wore this out, it has lasted most the day (including when I eat), without touching up! 🙂

For such an affordable product I cannot fault it. If your looking for a matte lippy be sure to check the Sleek Matte Me range, they have nudes & some purple colours too… click here to check the range out.

Have you tried this product?
What’s your fave matte lippy.. comment below! ❤

Makeup of the day

Makeup Of The Day!♥

Hi beauties. ☼

YES! Finally a makeup of the day, oh how I’ve missed these! *like this post to see more!!* 🙂

So, yesterday I decided to have a play around with my eyeshadows, well my beloved Sleek Au Naturel palette. The look I came up with was quite simple looking, but I LOVE it. I created matte eyes, with a flawless base & nude lips!

To be honest, I’ve been obsessed with matte eyeshadow over shimmers recently. It looks more subtle & wearable for everyday wear, especially as I wasn’t going anywhere fancy, just running some errands.

Right, enough babbling, lets get on with the look…

I didn’t picture each step, it is that simple, there’s a few colours used but only with a light hand, as I wanted a subtle matte contour to the eye!

Firstly, I put a wash of the colour ‘nougat’ all over the lids, right upto the brow bone, this just gives an even colour to work on top; making blending so much easier!

I then went in with ‘toast’ in my crease as the transition shade. This just gives darker colours a transition, making blending (yes, you’ll see the key to this look is blending!!) effortless. I use windscreen wiper motions to blend the colour into my crease, I blend this colour to the point where my eyebrows start (shown below).

To deepen up the crease a bit I went in with a mix of ‘nubuck’ and ‘cappuccino’ over the top of ‘toast, I only used a small amount at a time & built up the intensity until I got to the desired effect. With this look (& most other eyeshadow work) blending is the absolute key, also building up colour is essential, as the end look will look far more seamless than if you try blend a ton of colour from the get go!

Once you’ve reached your desired intensity I like to go in with an even darker shade; just to give that extra definition to the very outer corners. To do this I used ‘regal’, this is my favourite shade in this palette, it makes my green eyes POP! I place a small amount right in the outer corner & blend it into the crease, but not all the way into the inner corners like the other colours, only about half way!

To finish the look off I but ‘regal’ along the lower lashline & added a generous amount of my Kiko mascara (comment if you’d like to see a review!!) to my top & bottom lashes. This just defines the lashes & balances the bottom of the eyes with the top half.

Naked Lunch, Satin Taupe & Sketch.

MAC Eyeshadows Review!♥

Firstly, sorry for the lack of posts, it seems like I haven’t posted in ages (well to be honest, its been a while!) but I’ve been busy with life and work, I’m sure you all know how it is, but I do promise I’ll keep on-top of posting more in the future. Thanks for the follows I have received, it means a lot to me, if you would like any reviews on certain products just let me know, I’m more than willing to do them for you!

Anyway, on with the post…

20140113_162406Naked Lunch, Satin Taupe & Sketch

After much deliberation I have finally bought my first MAC Eyeshadows, Naked Lunch (Frost finish), Satin Taupe (Frost finish) & Sketch (Velvet finish). At £12 an eyeshadow I had always questioned whether they were worth the money and hype they have received in the past, but finally I caved & decided to treat myself to colours I know I’d wear on a daily basis, which to be honest I have done, they have fast become part of my new daily eye makeup routine.

MAC claim that their eyeshadows are;

Highly-pigmented powder. Applies evenly, blends well.

This claim by MAC, in my opinion, is true. From the first application the product is very pigmented and easily built up to get an even colour pay-off you see in the pan. Also I have found them a dream to blend, I use Satin Taupe & Sketch in the crease of my eye and I can honestly say they make creating an eye makeup look effortless.

MACs Eyeshadow Finishes

Frost finish eyeshadows contain small pieces of shimmer that create an iridescent to the appearance of the eyeshadow, some can be more metallic than the other (from the image of ‘Satin Taupe’ & ‘Naked Lunch’ above you can tell they are very shimmery colours). Although frost finish eyeshadows are popular they have been known to crease (I have not found this) and are shimmery rather than having big pieces of glitter.

Velvet finish eyeshadows are more matte than the frost finish and may only contain a hint of shimmer, it just depends on which shade you choose. The above image of ‘Sketch’ shows the true finish of a velvet eyeshadow as it is demi-matte (only a hint of shimmer). I have heard that this finish is known for being patchy when applied to the lid, but I haven’t noticed this at all, it goes on beautifully.

Lustre finish eyeshadows are known to be a dry, shimmery texture with big pieces of glitter and a pearly look to them. They have been known to have lots of fall out, but since I haven’t used this finish of eyeshadow before I couldn’t give you my opinion.

Matte finish eyeshadows have no shimmer/glitter to them. They are a flat colour with varying opacity to them. They are often used in the crease or all over the lid to create extra, subtle, definition to the eye. Known for high colour pay-off.

Matte 2 finish eyeshadows are exactly the same as the regular matte eyeshadows with the difference of texture. They are more buttery and easier to blend.

Satin finish eyeshadows are a more subtle and soft iridescent colour, although they are not meant to be frosty, they have a silky finish to the eye with good colour pay-off. Not too matte but not too frosty/shimmery.

Veluxe finish eyeshadows are said to be a lot like matte eyeshadows in their application with a less powdery appearance.

Veluxe pearl finish eyeshadows are similar to the veluxe finish eyeshadows but with a slight metallic shimmer to them.

Satin Taupe & Naked Lunch Satin Taupe & Naked Lunch
I applied Naked Lunch all over the lid & onto the tearduct area, I then blended Satin Taupe through the crease to create more definition.

If you purchase the eyeshadows in the pots, like I have, you will receive a product which is not only fantastic within itself, but the packaging around it is very well made. It is a very sturdy black plastic pot with a clear lid with the ‘MAC’ embellishment on top. The clear lid is a fabulous idea as you are able to see the colour without opening it up. Also, on the bottom of the packaging is the name of the eyeshadow and what finish it is. This is especially helpful for things like blog posts, YouTubers, makeup artists, etc. as it is easier to refer to the name than trying to describe the product itself, some colours are so similar due to the vast variety, making this simply impossible.

Overall, these eyeshadows are worth the hype, well from these three I have tried & purchased! I could not be happier with the quality of the products; they have such brilliant pigmentation, no fall-out (that I’ve noticed) and they stay all day & even night. If you are wanting to treat yourself, then I say go for it, or they would even make a fab present for a friend/family member who’s into makeup, I know if i received even one of these I would be more than happy!

I would definitely give MAC Eyeshadows a 5/5, I highly recommend them & would certainly recommend them to friends and family. I’m sure I’ll be purchasing more in the future, but for now I’m just going to enjoy the ones I own.

Topshop Lipstick Review

I’ve been meaning to buy some of Topshops lipsticks for a while now, after hearing such good things about them I finally splashed out £16 (£8 each) and bought two shades, ‘screen siren’ & ‘beguiled’ (swatches below). Although I only purchased these two shades there are many more to choose from, I just decided on these as I hadn’t any other lipsticks like these in my collection.

These lipsticks are quite a creamy formula, which once applied onto the lips feel moisturising, the colour pay-off also surprised me, I never expected such good quality, especially because they only retail for £8 each. Despite the creamy formula they dry to a matte/smooth texture, which i usually hate. However, unlike other matte lipsticks i have come across they aren’t drying on the lips, to be truthful it isn’t like your wearing a lipstick.

lipstick swatches

1 = Screen Siren

2 = Beguiled

Topshop claims the lipsticks to be a;

Velvet finish lipstick to smooth, moisturise and nourish lips. Apply for fabulous colour and moisturised, matte finish, wear alone or with gloss for a shiny finish.

Does the Topshop lipsticks live upto their claims? In my opinion YES they do, well the two I own certainly do. Firstly, I agree with Topshops claim that the lipsticks leave a velvet/smooth finish to the lips, although this sounds as if once the lipstick is applied it dries your lips out, this is not the case, as claimed the lipsticks are moisturising and nourishing on the lips. In all honesty once you have taken the lipstick off or it has worn off, your lips feel softer than before you applied the lipstick, this can only be a good thing, right?
Secondly, the lipsticks are VERY pigmented, after one application of these lipsticks you get the true colour pay-off onto your lips. This is brilliant as it means you don’t need to layer up the product, therefore making it last longer, which is certainly value for money, especially for the £8 you pay (which for brilliant lipsticks like these is pretty cheap these days).

These lipsticks also have a mild scent to them, ‘screen siren’ smells a bit like MAC lipsticks, with a vanilla/sweet scent to it, whereas ‘beguiled’ has more of a fruity berry scent. If you don’t like makeup which is scented don’t be alarmed, they are not heavily scented, as it is only noticable if you hold them to your nose, I haven’t noticed any scent during application or once applied.

The packaging of these Topshop lipsticks are pretty standard with a plain white tube with three horizontal black stripes on the bottom and the writing ‘Lips Topshop’ on the lid. The colour of the lipstick is also shown on the bottom of the tube with its own unique name. Despite the simplicity of the packaging I quite like it, the tube also has a matte feel to it which adds to the quality and makes it feel more expensive, but to be honest what can you expect for £8, its hardly going to be 8 carat gold. Therefore, in my opinion, for the price you pay you get decent looking, sturdy packaging.

I would definitely recommend these lipsticks, especially if your on a budget when it comes to makeup, they are such cheap lipsticks for the high quality you get, even if you aren’t a fan of matte lips you can always put a bit of lip balm or clear gloss over the top to add some shine.

Overall, I give these lipsticks a 5/5, to me they are BRILLIANT; they are reasonably priced, nourishing on the lips, highly pigmented and last for hours on the lips without reapplying, what more could you want?
